Hart Union High School District as of August 11, and Sunday mornings at the FivePoint Farmers Market are back too. Jon and I get asked a lot by people relocating from Los Angeles what everyday life in Valencia actually looks like once the moving boxes are unpacked, and honestly, late August through October is one of the best times to see it firsthand. Here's what's actually happening right now, and a few things about how Valencia works that most people don't find out until they've lived here a while.

The Valencia FivePoint Farmers Market is the easiest weekly answer. It sets up Sunday mornings, 8:30am to 1pm, at 27426 Navigation Ave, and this fall's run continues through mid-October. It's a genuinely small, local market, family farms selling produce, bread, eggs, and meat, not a festival, just a normal Sunday habit for a lot of Valencia families. If you're touring homes on a Sunday morning, it's worth swinging by afterward. It tells you more about the neighborhood's actual rhythm than almost anything else we could show you.

The Valencia branch of the Santa Clarita Public Library, at 23743 Valencia Blvd, is another everyday fixture worth knowing about before you move here. It's open seven days a week, and the Valencia branch specifically runs Friday afternoon homework help from 2 to 4pm, on top of the library system's usual mix of story times, author events, and seasonal reading programs. For families with school-age kids, having a walkable library that actually runs homework support is a bigger quality-of-life detail than it sounds like on paper.

The William S. Hart Union High School District, which runs Valencia High School along with Rio Norte and Arroyo Seco Junior High Schools, started its 2026-2027 school year on August 11. According to The Signal's back-to-school coverage, that first day brought the usual mix of excitement and nerves as students returned to campuses across Santa Clarita. If you're relocating from Los Angeles and used to a later start date, this is worth building into your moving timeline. Santa Clarita schools tend to start earlier in August than a lot of LA-area districts.

This is one of the more surprising things Jon and I explain to Valencia buyers, and it genuinely changes depending on which street a home is on. Valencia isn't one elementary school district, it's split across three. The northern part of Valencia falls under Saugus Union School District. The southern part falls under Newhall School District. A smaller western slice falls under Castaic Union School District. The dividing line generally follows Valencia Boulevard and Magic Mountain Parkway. Junior high and high school stay consistent across all of Valencia, everyone flows into the William S. Hart Union High School District, but elementary school assignment genuinely depends on the exact address. If a specific elementary school matters to your family, that's a detail we check before you fall in love with a house, not after you've made an offer.

Late August in Santa Clarita is a mix of the school year settling in and summer programs winding down. The city's Concerts in the Park series at Central Park runs through late August most years, which isn't in Valencia proper but is a short drive and a genuine local tradition a lot of Valencia families make a point of catching before it wraps for the season. Locally in Valencia, the farmers market and library programs are the steady, dependable options that run well past summer, which is part of why we mention them here instead of anything more seasonal that would be gone by the time you read this.
